From the 14th of November this year we are running the 2nd “Actors Film Lab” In week 9 of the training course we shoot on location a short film that will be premiered at BAFTA and released to film festivals world wide. - Eight x 6 hr evening workshops - - 3 day location shoot with Award Winning Crew shooting on RED HD - All Accommodation, Travel and Food for the 3 day location shoot in week 9 - Energising raw food evening supper during trainings - You receive all written and recorded material - Your Guaranteed Part in a high end short film Written and Directed by multi award winning Benjamin D Johns - Exposure to and Training with Leading Industry guests including Casting Directors and high profile Film Actors - You will be trained by a Movement Master; this will benefit you for the rest of your life! - Inside information and experience about all the different aspects of making a film, from Writing the script all the way through to Filming. • You will also get... - Invites for Friends and family at BAFTA premiere to an invited industry audience - Inside industry contact guide ALEX – Actor 22 “ I have learned more than I can imagine – I really became Simon on set. At the end of these 8 weeks you are guaranteed a part in a high end short film written and directed by Benjamin D Johns, who has had his short films viewed in at more than 200 festivals, including Edinburg, Toronto, Venice and Tokyo. He Produced BAFTA nominated “Candy Bar Kid”, Written and Directed Award winning critically acclaimed “Traffic Warden” and “Old Harry” starring Robert Hardy. In 2010 he produced and Directed “A party Political Broadcast by the Poetry Party” starring Hugh Bonneville and recently “Lake Land Falls” which came out of the 1st Actors Film Lab.
From 2006-2009 he taught at Staffordshire University on the Award winning BA Hons in Media and Film Production where he was the youngest Senior Lecturer in the faculty. He is currently in postproduction on his feature film “TRIBE” which is a gritty British drama set in the harsh world of gypsies. The film will be released in Summer 2012.
Over a period of 8 weeks you will get training in: • Character development • Film Synopsis • Improvisation • The genre of short films • Auditioning and rehearsing for an actual short film to be shot on site in week 9. • Valuable techniques for Breathing, Voice projection, Energy Development, Postural Alignment and Spatial Awareness from Konstantin Pavlidis. Each week we invite a carefully selected high profile industry professional to share their experience with you and watch you develop. These guests attended the 1st film lab include: • Kelly Valentine Hendry – Casting Director (“Warhorse”, “Iron Clad”, “Killing Bono”) • Kan Bonfils – Actor (“Starwars”, “The Phantom Menace”, “Batman Begins”, “Sky Captain and the world of Tomorrow”) • Kathryn Drysdale – Actor (“Vanity Fair”, “St Trinians”, “Two pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps”) • Nicci Topping – Casting Director (commercials such as “Playstation” and “Hyundai”) • Jason Maza – Actor (“Fish Tank”, “Shifty”, “Manor Hunt Ball”) At the 3 day location shoot, you will be working with a leading industry crew who will shoot your high end short film production on RED 4K HD. “ I can honestly say that this is the best thing I have ever done.
