An exciting opportunity for a Filmmaker/Project Worker to work with First Take, an award-winning filmmaking organisation based in Liverpool. Liverpools Pink Past requires a filmmaker with extensive experience of working within diverse communities to work on a 1 year contract at 3-days per week at £12,000 per annum (£20,000 pro rata).

LIVERPOOL’S PINK PAST
The Project Worker will be liaising closely with partner organisations such as Museum of Liverpool, Liverpool LGBT Network, Homotopia, Liverpool Pride, Age Concern, The Armistead Centre, GYRO. The Project Worker will recruit and work with 3 groups of volunteers on First Take’s Liverpool’s Pink Past History Project. These are the Steering Group, the Filmmaking Group and the Web Design Group. They will liaise closely with First Take’s Project Co-Ordinator and Web Design Tutor. Training in working on oral history projects will be given.

The project will result in an online resource and series of films exploring the vibrant and often turbulent history of Liverpool's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community featuring personal and gripping stories from the 1950s to the present day.

They will work with each group to decide upon and film the required footage, to edit footage for a variety of uses: DVD for schools, DVD of feature documentary film, Video stings for an Interactive Map at the Museum of Liverpool and online resource.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To work closely with LGBT community of Liverpool.
• To liaise with partner organisations and develop further partnerships.
• To design programmes and run workshops to engage the LGBT and wider community.
• To work with the Filmmaking Group to plan, shoot and edit oral histories for a variety of uses.
• To work with First Take Web Designer and Volunteers to create an online resource.
• To work with schools and Liverpool City Council to promote and distribute the DVD for schools.
• To promote the website ensuring strong optimization
• To market and promote the feature documentary DVD to worldwide audiences
• To work with the Steering Group in planning the overall strategy regarding web development, links with other websites and search engine optimisation

Skills / Attributes Required

Essential:
• Extensive experience working within communities
• Editing and post-production skills particularly using Final Cut Pro
• Experience of training within community setting
• Filmmaking skills
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Flexible and positive attitude
• Full driving license

Desirable:
• Knowledge of Motion Graphics
• Web / Graphical Design skills and website optimisation
• Marketing and distribution skills
• Knowledge of fundraising and business sponsorship
