Details
Everyone’s been in detention one way or another, but can you remember that first day, the day when you thought it was “the end of the world”, and that from then on you would be seen as a “trouble-maker” Do you remember how that teacher ,who you never really spoke to before. Do you remember that kid who seemed like a regular in detention and didn’t give a crap. “Don’t look him in the eye” you’d tell yourself. Do you remember trying to impress the school “trouble maker” because you couldn’t admit to him that the only reason you were there was because you were late to class.

Well this is how Oscar's first day in detention was. Naïve, embarrassed and a little scared, he reported to the detention hall. While trying not to get another detention for getting in trouble, and also for getting out without suspension he befriends the unlikeliest of characters while trying to keep a low profile.

First Day is a short film, being made by a group of ambitious people, over a three day period.

Auditions will be held on 20/21 March (location yet to be confirmed), and the shoot will take place on the 6/7/8 April in Stoke-on-Trent.

Parts of the script will be sent as audition pieces, but if you wish to create a back story for the character and create a monologue that would be great.

Benefits: Copy of film supplied, Showreel material, Food provided/allowance (expenses), Travel provided/allowance (expenses), Invite to screening, Regular updates about film's progress

The Jamaican born and educated Mr Davis resents the students for having it “easy”, and often reminds them that if this was Jamaica they would have been kicked out of school and shamed years ago. With his trusted whistle he often terrorises the students for every little detail.

The character of Mr Davis must be played by either a Jamaican person or a black male who can put on a West Indian accent.
